Sweet Treats Delivers First Winner For Castelvecchio

Jun 3, 2024

Two year old filly Sweet Treats relished a step up in distance when breaking her maiden over 1500m at Goulburn on Monday, giving her sire Castelvecchio his first winner! From a pedigree filled with 2YO runners, Sweet Treats has always been a precocious type but it showed in her earlier races that she would need 7 furlongs and beyond to show her best. After a mid-field finish at her previous start over 1200m, Danielle Seib opted to step her up to 1500m against the older horses with a lack of 2YO options available beyond 6 furlongs. The race placement proved a winning move, as did the 2kg claim from in-form apprentice Coriah Keatings- with Sweet Treats carrying just 53kg's on the rain affected track. Jumping from barrier 4 in the field of 10 runners, Sweet Treats stepped away slowly but was able to muster speed early. She eventually found cover after being exposed three wide and travelled comfortably coming around the home turn. She gave a good kick to stave off her rivals with a length win, defeating the well backed Devgru and race favourite Bounty By Knight. Sweet Treats was a $72,500 weanling purchase from the 2022 Magic Millions National sale from the Segenhoe Stud Draft. Congratulations to her owners Dalanna Bloodstock, J E Abrahams Pty Ltd, Mr G Seto, Red Eye No 2, Mr D Dickson, Mrs K L Stafford, Mr T Stafford, Mr S J Brown, Mr J G Codner, Dream Team, Mrs D L Fisher, Mr T S Fisher, Mr W S Simpson, Thug Thoroughbreds

Back To Back Wins For Pizarro

May 23, 2024

Photo Credit: Trackside PhotographyPizarro scored back to back wins when taking out the Class 6 Plate over 1200m at Ipswich on Wednesday. The 5YO All Too Hard gelding continued his good form after saluting at the same track and distance three weeks prior when having his first start for trainer Tony Gollan. Jumping from barrier 2 in the 9 horse field, Pizarro settled midfield on the fence for jockey James Orman who has been aboard for all his Queensland outings this preparation."I ended up a little bit further back than what I wanted" commented Orman after the win. "The horse in front of me was getting held up so I opted to come out wide and get going- i was on the best horse in the race and that showed late."Trainer Tony Gollan was full of praise for Pizarro's efforts "He had to do it a little bit tougher second-up and he really doesn't like that tight turning track at Ipswich." Gollan explained to the owners post-race. "Once he balanced up, he really savaged the line and he's brimming with confidence at the moment."Pizarro will now make his way back to Saturday metropolitan company with Tony eyeing off a Class 6 over 1200m on QLD Oaks Day at Eagle Farm in a fortnight. Congratulations to his big team of owners Champion Thoroughbreds 1 syndicate, Greenwich Stud Pty Ltd, Mr D H Long, Mr G C Green, Mperezive Racing, Mr P A King, Mr P J Dunn, Mr D C Harrop, Mr Z H Davis, JackJ5 Racing, Mr D J Winnell, Mr A M S Lewis, Mr G Seto, 1 in 5 2020 Club, Mr J O'Mahoney, Tunbison Racing

$50K Super Maiden Win For Motorboat

May 7, 2024

Lining up for her third career start, 3YO filly Motorboat was able to take out the $50k 1100m Super Maiden at Wellington on Tuesday. The daughter of Astern put the writing on the wall when running second last start at Canberra over 1000m, finishing second to Mountain Chatter, who subsequently won again at Goulburn on Tuesday.Given a confident front-running ride by one the Western NSW's best jockey's Matthew Cahill, she was driven out of the gates to take an on-speed position from barrier 8 which proved advantageous around the Wellington circuit. She gave a good kick at the 200m, staving off the well supported Pockets Eights to win by half a length. It was a rewarding win for Motorboat's connections including her trainer Danielle Seib and partner Aaron who have taken their time to iron out a few of her barrier quirks. Congratulations to her connections Dalanna Bloodstock, Ms K J Mcdougall, Mr P O'Meagher, Miss L R Casson, Mr J P Purtell, Mr A M Kennedy, Dr F McCourt, Mr T Cahill, Mr C Hodgkinson, Dr M Chan, Mr S Nagaratnam, Mr G Shalala, Dr M Healy, Mr J Gregory, Ms V Leonard, Miss J M Petrie, Mr R Shalala, Mr D Steffel, Mr D P Toohey

Pizarro Returns To Winning Form

May 2, 2024

Photo Credit: Trackside Photography A long break and move north proved a winning formula for Pizarro when he returned to the races at Ipswich on Wednesday. The 5YO All Too Hard gelding was transferred to the Tony Gollan stable at the beginning of the year after an unplaced preparation in Sydney during the spring. He was very well placed in a set weights class 3 on Wednesday over the 1200m, warranting his $1.60 starting price. He was coming off a trial win at Deagon a fortnight prior and leading Queensland jockey James Orman, who partnered him in the trial was full of confidence in running, despite the rail out +9m. Pizarro jumped on terms with the field from barrier 6 and settled mid-field off a solid tempo. He came off the bridle at the 500m when Orman put him in to the race and he showed good tenacity under the 60kg to attack the line, defeating his rivals by half a length. It was a well deserved victory for Pizarro who had been out of the winners circle for 620 days. "He will be better on the bigger tracks- you don't get much tighter than Ipswich with the rail out" Tony Gollan commented after the win "He's done a good job- he didn't win by a big margin but the confidence out of that will do him the world of good"Congratulations to his big team of owners Champion Thoroughbreds 1 syndicate, Greenwich Stud Pty Ltd, Mr D H Long, Mr G C Green, Mperezive Racing, Mr P A King, Mr P J Dunn, Mr D C Harrop, Mr Z H Davis, JackJ5 Racing, Mr D J Winnell, Mr A M S Lewis, Mr G Seto, 1 in 5 2020 Club, Mr J O'Mahoney, Tunbison Racing
