Gold, HTBA catalogues now available online

Catalogues for the Gold Yearling Sale and HTBA Yearling Sale are now available online.

A total of 224 yearlings have been finalised for the HTBA Sale, to be held at Riverside on Sunday April 28 while 102 yearlings are in the Gold Sale which will be held at Oaklands a week earlier on Sunday April 21.

Both these sales continue to provide excellent opportunities for buyers later in the Southern Hemisphere yearling sales season.

Tintookie, a $30,000 buy for trainer Brad Widdup who has since won $500,000 - including the G3 Wenona Girl Stakes last weekend – is the latest standout HTBA Sale graduate that has gained significant return on investment for her owners.

Tintookie is one of many recent success stories out of the HTBA Sale; Rocketing By was purchased for $22,000 and has since won $2,733,240, Monegal was a $3000 buy, earned her connections $686,895 and sold as a broodmare on Inglis Digital for $225,000, The Bopper cost $30,000 and has since won $540,165, Bazooka has won $557,726 off a $14,000 purchase price and so on.

It's been a similar story of success at the Gold Sale, one which averages around just $15,000 yet consistently proves more than capable of producing high-class racehorses that go on and win significant prizemoney.

Such is the value available at the Gold Sale, recent G1-winning graduates such as Lunar Fox, Savatoxl, Media Award and Malaguerra could have been sourced there for a combined $85,000 – they have won more than $4.5m between them.

Other money-spinners to graduate from the sale include the likes of Papillon Club – a $70,000 purchase who has won almost $400,000 already - Express Pass, a winner of over $530,000 having been bought for just $38,000, La Falaise, a G2 winner of over $255,000 bought for just $5000, Free To Move, who has won over $367,000 having been picked up for $8000 and, most famously, Mahamedeis, a winner of over $1.2m having been bought for just $24,000.

Just 12 months ago, NSW trainer David Payne, bidding online, purchased a filly by D’Argento for just $15,000. That filly, now named Rag Queen, won on debut in January before a fast-finishing third in the $2m Inglis Millennium at just her second start, marking herself one of the most exciting fillies of her generation.
