Inglis Juveniles Come Out Running

5th Nov 2008

ROSTOVA ($80,000 2008 Premier, 2f Testa Rossa-Space Talk) continued a dominant start to the new season for Inglis two-year-old graduates when she made an exciting debut to claim the Listed Schiavello Stakes at Flemington yesterday.

Five out of the six two-year-old stakes races in Sydney and Melbourne so far this season have been won by yearling sale purchases. Four of those are Inglis graduates with Easter, Melbourne Premier and Sydney Classic all sharing the spoils.

Following the win, trainer Steve Richards rated ROSTOVA as possibly the best horse he has trained and the filly will now be set for the major autumn races.

“She’s very good, I’d kept her quiet for a long while and I said to the owners that she’s the best two-year-old I’ve put a saddle on and probably the best horse I’ve put a saddle on,” Richards said.

“She’ll go for a spell now and I’ll bring her back for the Blue Diamond.”

Her win followed the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate success by OUR JOAN OF ARC ($15,000 2008 Classic, 2f Beautiful Crown-Bright Heroine) and impressive Sydney debut from WANTED ($800,000 Easter, 2c Fastnet Rock-Fragmentation) on Saturday.

COME HITHER ($1.1million 2008 Easter, 2f Redoute’s Choice-Hanky Panky) stamped her pass to the top autumn races with a thumping win in the Listed Debutants Stakes last month.

The dual stakes wins by Our Joan Of Arc, who had earlier won the Listed Gimcrack Stakes in Sydney, also highlight the potential of STARSPANGLEDBANNER ($120,000 2008 Premier, 2c Choisir-Gold Anthem), who showed good speed to land the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley last week.
