Inglis Melbourne Premier Open Day Sunday Feb 28
8th Feb 2010
The parade of Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale Living Legend Fields of Omagh and his stable mates, Silent Witness & Might and Power, will be a highlight of the inaugural Melbourne Premier Open Day to be held at Inglis' Oakland's Complex on Sunday Feb 28. The trio will be joined by popular Living Legend and 2000 Melbourne Cup winner Brew.
While official inspections of yearlings by international, interstate and local buyers will be underway from 8.30am the sale grounds will be transformed into a hive of activity from 12 midday.
The major prize for the day will be the drawing of the popular Sunday Herald Sun - Inglis Win A Share In A Racehorse Competition to take place at 12.45pm in the sale auditorium. Last start stakes winner Set For Fame is the current competition flag bearer and a great reminder to be in the draw.
The Living Legends Parade will follow immediately at 1pm and will be hosted by former race caller and board member of Living Legends Bryan Martin OAM.
An auction will be held to help raise funds to upgrade facilities for Living Legends. On offer is a service to Lonhro’s full brother Niello, and the other is an attractive package of accommodation at Crown Metropol Hotel & dinner at Gordon Ramsey's Maze, vouchers totalling $7,000 on behalf of Inglis, Jan Logan & Luxbet, a $500 Melissa Jackson hat and a case of Tyrrells wine. At 1.45pm TV racing presenter and Aushorse Marketing Manager Jo Mc Kinnon will host an Owners Forum at which leading trainers including Gai Waterhouse and David Hayes will explain what they look for in selecting yearlings.
The syndicator’s forum following the trainers segment will feature leading syndicators: Troy Corstens, Peter Creighton, Dean Humphries, Denise Martin, Joe O Neill, Rob Slade, Dean Watt and Shelley Hancox.
Leading Australian Milliner Melissa Jackson will host a fabulous fashion parade featuring racing accessories by Australian designer Jan Logan. A bevy of beauties provided by Luxbet.com will model the hats and luxury accessories and a highlight of the parade will feature the face of Country Racing, Mrs. Sally Anne Marshall – wife of former jockey and BC3 director Simon Marshall displaying the latest looks for autumn racing.
Callaway Golf will host a driving comp in the outdoor fields at 3pm and the band Afterburn will close the day on the lawn near the outside parade area. Inglis are delighted to work for the first time with the local Council, The City of Hume, who are facilitating a wine and local produce village featuring 18-20 local wineries and produce stalls and have secured a local Jazz trio to compliment the entertainment area.
Eighteen vendor marquees will also see vendors hosting potential buyers during a highlight of Melbourne’s Festival of Racing.
The day will officially end at 5pm.
