Jameka to take on the world

Mighty mare Jameka will take on the world later this year, but her trainer Ciaron Maher remains unsure exactly where and when that summit will be targeted.

Jameka added the Group 1 The BMW to her other top-level victories (Caulfield Cup and Victoria Oaks) with an effortless victory at Rosehill today under the guidance of Hugh Bowman.

The $130,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale buy for Maher, from Gilgai Farm’s draft, took her career earnings to almost $5million with the win.

Maher remains unclear of just how the next six months will play out for Jameka, but one thing is for sure – she’s going to take on the best on offer.

“There’s the Queen Elizabeth during The Championships, there’s Hong Kong, Royal Ascot, even the Yorkshire Oaks, there’s a bit to look at,’’ Maher said.

“We need to have some conversations with the connections. We’ll see how she comes through this, but she’s such a quality mare.’’

In a dominant display, Jameka won The BMW by six lengths from her Australian Cup conqueror Humidor and Caulfield Cup placegetter Exospheric.

Jameka is a four-year-old daughter of Myboycharlie and Mine Game.

There is one progeny of Myboycharlie – Lot 406, a colt ex Carnegie Minstrel – at the upcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

The Easter Yearling Sale, for which 480 Lots have been catalogued, will run for the three days of April 4, 5 and 6.

The first of a big fortnight of Inglis sales is the inaugural The Chairman’s Sale Session I (Elite Racing Prospects), which kicks off at 6pm this coming Thursday, April 30.

Included in the catalogue already are Sydney Cup contender Chance To Dance, Adrian Knox entrant Fallacy, 26.25% of Oaks-bound filly Moqueen, Stakes-placed 2YO Eden Roc, 25% of Group 2-winning 3YO Man From Uncle and 30% of Group performer Land Of Plenty.

Entries for The Chairman’s Sale Session I must close at 10am this coming Monday, March 27.

To enter, please contact National Bloodstock Manager Jonathan D’Arcy on 0412 965 729 or CLICK HERE.

Then it’s The Chairman’s Sale Session II (Elite Breeding Prospects) on Friday April 7 from 5pm.

A total of 89 Lots have been catalogued for the sale including Group 1 winners, broodmares in foal to the likes of Frankel, Snitzel and I Am Invincible, highly-credentialed weanlings, race fillies and stallion shares.

Then the last ever sale at Newmarket will take place, the revamped Australian Broodmare & Weanling Sale from April 10-12, where a catalogue of over 550 quality weanlings, race fillies and broodmares will be offered.

Meanwhile I Am A Star proved she is arguably Australia’s best 3YO filly with a dominant victory in Friday night’s Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

The Matthew Sandblom-owned daughter of I Am Invincible and Star Band crossed from an outside gate to dictate the speed and kicked away before the home turn to win eased down by 3.3 lengths.

Should the Sydney weather ease in coming weeks I Am A Star – a $40,000 James Harron Bloodstock Inglis Classic buy from Broadwater Thoroughbreds – will likely race next in the Group 1 Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on April 8, Day 2 of The Championships.
