Snitzel filly tops Scone Yearling Sale
21st May 2012
A Snitzel filly from the draft of Arrowfield Stud topped the 2012 Inglis H.T.B.A Scone Yearling Sale, which was held on one select day at White Park in Scone on Sunday May 20.
From city winning mare Sharp Enough, the sale topping filly by Snitzel was sold to Warwick Farm trainer David Vandyke for $90,000. The striking filly (pictured) is a half-sister to stakes placed filly Intelligentsia and was offered as Lot 171 from the draft of Arrowfield Stud.
85% of Sunday’s offerings were sold for gross of $2,177,000. The sale average ended at $13,036 and median at $10,000.
Paul Perry finished the sale as the leading individual buyer after purchasing four yearlings for $110,000, including the day’s second highest priced yearling; Lot 74 a colt by Choisir from Gold Miss Digger, was purchased from the draft of Jorson Farm from Queensland for $47,000.
Peter Dawson also had a busy day at White Park picking up three yearlings for $95,000; a colt by Myboycharlie for $36,000, a Snippetson colt for $33,000 and Fastnet Rock filly for $26,000.
With 98% of the catalogue BOBS eligible local buyers dominated the day’s buyers sheet, but there was good competition from Queensland, ACT, Victoria, South Australia and Hong Kong, which all went home with yearlings from the great value sale.
Yearlings that passed in at the 2012 Scone Yearling Sale are available for sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer service.
Local breeding operation Middlebrook Valley Lodge finished the Scone Sale as the leading vendor, having sold 18 of their 19 offered yearlings for a total of $248,500. Arrowfield Stud led the sale by average (for three or more sold), having sold all 10 of their offerings at an average of $23,550.
Other leading vendors that recorded a 100% clearance rate included Widden Stud, Edinglassie Stud, Yarraman Park Stud, Amarina Farm, Attunga Stud, Creslea Thoroughbreds, Crowning Stone, Emirates Park, Fairview Park Stud, Hunter Thoroughbreds and Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds.
