Yulong celebrates successful grand opening

Inglis was thrilled to be involved with the inaugural Yulong Thoroughbred Sale and official opening of the new Yulong Park complex in Shanxi, China.

Inglis’ Chief Commercial Officer Bonnie Connellan, Senior Auctioneer Peter Heagney and Bloodstock Consultant Jin Tian attended the sale to celebrate the momentous occasion with Yulong’s Mr Zhang and his team.

The auction saw 71 horses offered, with sales going to a variety of buyers and turnover of ¥13,000,000 (A$2,600,000). The top Australian-bred horse sold was an Epaulette x Solar Verde colt, originally selling to Yulong Investments for $20,000 by Phoenix Broodmare Farm at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, which was reoffered and made ¥510,000 (A$100,000).

Connellan congratulated Yulong on the successful opening event.

“There were a lot of people there and a great atmosphere and the entire Yulong precinct, with the hotel and sales facility and racetrack is a world-class set-up,’’ Connellan said.

“The sale itself was a fantastic success and we wish Mr Zhang all the best with his future sales and his overall business, which is proving to be a fantastic boost to the Australian industry as well as he looks to increase his broodmare band and racehorses both here and back in China.’’

Mr Zhang described the initial Yulong sale as “a magnificent occasion’’.

“With the huge support from the whole team at Inglis, the first Yulong Thoroughbred Sale has been run very successfully,’’ Mr Zhang said.

“The historical first three lots of the sale were all sold by Inglis’ senior auctioneer Mr Peter Heagney and the co-operation between Yulong and Inglis before, during and after the first Yulong Sale has enhanced the honest relationship between us.

“The future Yulong sales will further carry on the positive interaction between Yulong and Inglis and push the mutual development of both thoroughbred industry in China and Australia.’’
