Not A Single Doubt Colt Sparkles on Debut in Inglis Nursery

Breednet - Mark Smith - Saturday, 12 December 2015

Two first starters fought out the finish of Saturday’s $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick.

Despite racing greenly down the straight, the Melbourne visitor Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) proved too strong under Glyn Schofield for the Exceed And Excel filly So Serene in the final stages to win by two lengths.

It was four lengths back to the third placed Rampage (All American) who edged out Too Fast For Love (So You Think) who both carried the Darby Racing silks.

Winning trainer Mick Price said it was a rush to get the son of Not A Single Doubt to the race.

"We had to squeeze everything in, we did not even have a name for him three weeks ago,” Price said.

"All credit to the horse, you can only train them and baby them and they will do the rest for you.

"I thought it was a fantastic win for an unraced horse. He duffed the start just that half-length and had a wander down the straight. We will probably get him back to Melbourne give him a breather and get him ready for the Blue Diamond.

Price praised his racing manager Luke Wilkinson for selecting Extreme Choice at the Inglis Classic Yearling sale.

"My racing manager came here by himself and chose it by himself, Price said.

"He asked me about it and I said you paid too much for it. It did take us a while to syndicate it but all credit to Luke Wilkinson because he is very passionate about the sales and he’s learnt a lot.”

Glyn Schofield said Extreme Choice is a horse with a future.

"He’s a nice colt, he’s got natural speed and a turn of foot. They are both great attributes for a racehorse,” Schofield said.

"He was still a bit green but he'll keep learning and has a bright future.”

Consigned to the Inglis Classic Summer Yearling sale by Bell River Thoroughbreds, Extreme Choice (pictured as a yearling) was knocked down for $100,000.

A brother to the 3-time winner Raise No Doubt, he is the fourth foal of the unraced Hussonet (USA) mare Extremely whose dam Going To Extremes (USA) (Nast And Bold) whose 11 wins in Canada included the Grade II Royal North Handicap at Woodbine.

Extremely has a yearling filly by Duporth and a colt foal by Smart Missile.
