Plenty to Cheer about as Juddmonte mare in foal to Frankel, tops Digital sale

Of Good Cheer – a young mare on her first cover to superstar sire Frankel – tonight topped a hugely successful Inglis Digital June (Early) Sale which saw seven horses realise $100,000 or more.

Offered by Twin Hills Stud on behalf of global racing and breeding powerhouse Juddmonte, Of Good Cheer (Dark Angel) was highly sought after by a number of bidders before eventually selling to Yulong for $560,000.

“It’s a great result, she’s a lovely mare and we were very happy to be able to present her on behalf of Juddmonte,’’ Twin Hills’ Olly Tait said.

“This result once again proves that, at all levels, Inglis Digital is a great platform to sell on because it has the trust of the industry.

That trust is what makes it the juggernaut it is today and will continue to be in the future.’’

On Yulong continuing their support of the Australian industry in a big way, Tait added: “We’re so fortunate to have Mr Zhang involved in the industry in Australia. His investment is great for everybody. He obviously loves Frankel and that is understandable because Frankel is amazing and we wish him all the best with this mare.’’

Today’s second-top lot was the Newgate Farm-offered mare Fortune Seeker (in foal to Stay Inside), which realised $300,000, also to Yulong.

Fortune Seeker (Written Tycoon) is a three-quarter sister to young Stakes-winning Inglis Easter graduate Comrade Rosa, who is again one of the favoured runners in Saturday’s G2 Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm.

“The mare is owned by Nick Vass, a great supporter of the farm and it’s a fantastic result overall,’’ Newgate’s Jim Carey said.

“Mares in foal to Stay Inside have sold tremendously well this year and Fortune Seeker has gone to a great home and we wish Mr Zhang and the Yulong team all the best with her. Hopefully there’s a big update for them as early as Saturday in the Dane Ripper.’’

The third-top lot was Testa Sarah (Testa Rossa), the dam of talented Stakes-winning 2YO and Inglis Classic graduate Saltaire.

Offered by Vinery Stud in foal to their exciting young stallion Exceedance, Testa Sarah was purchased for $190,000 by Kitchwin Hills in conjunction with Saltaire’s ownership group.

“We know how good Saltaire is and we’re really excited to be purchasing her mother,’’ Kitchwin’s Mick Malone said.

“We’re also big believers in Exceedance as a stallion so it’s all a match made in heaven.

“We’ll foal the mare down and then send her back to Star Turn to get a full to Saltaire and hope that by then, she’s won a few Group 1s for us.’’

Vinery’s Adam White added: “It’s an absolutely great result. Having a top-class 2YO out there this season has made all the difference with this mare, it was all about the timing as we looked to capitalise while everything was hot and Inglis Digital is the perfect platform for that.

“It’s also a great push for Exceedance, his progeny sold up to $380,000 at Inglis Easter this year, he’s started off really well in the ring and we can’t wait to see his 2YOs hit the track later this year.’’

In total, the Inglis Digital June (Early) Sale grossed $4,107,750.

Entries are now open for the June (Late) Sale, which will run from June 23-28.

Entries will remain open until midnight on Wednesday June 21.
