Samantha Miss Heads Back To Newmarket

Million dollar Easter yearling and champion three-year-old filly elect Samantha Miss will return to Newmarket where she was sold under the famous Moreton Bay Fig Tree two years ago, as the star attraction at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale to be held in Sydney April 14 - 16.

“It has been well documented over the past week that Samantha Miss is for sale,” commented Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

“Mr Croghan has been a client of Inglis for over 50 years and we are delighted to be able to assist with her sale,” Webster continued.

“We’ve been in discussions for some time now and it was very pleasing to officially receive an entry form today.”

“Given her value and the results Inglis has achieved offering mares in this league, Mr Croghan decided this was the right time and place to offer her for sale and made the decision to put it in writing.”

“She’s got the looks, the pedigree and the performance, there isn’t much more to say about her that hasn’t already been said.”

“We are delighted to now have the last two VRC Oaks winners in the sale, Samantha Miss and Arapaho Miss who are both grand daughters of Danehill.”

A triple Group One winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice, Samantha Miss captured the Flight Stakes and VRC Oaks double as a three-year-old after having defeated Golden Slipper champion Sebring in the Champagne Stakes as a two-year-old.

She was the first filly since Angst in 1993 to complete a clean sweep of the Princess Series during the Sydney Spring Carnival. Ha Ha, Triscay, Research, Victory Vein, Bold Promise, Unworldly, Sunline and Danglissa won three of the four legs of the Princess Series.

To date Samantha Miss has won seven races from 12 starts and earned over $1.77 million in prizemoney.

The supplementary catalogue of mares will be offered on Thursday April 16 after lot 587.
