Sale Overview
Turnover Up Sixty Per Cent At Inglis Easter Broodmare
The 2010 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale closed with more than $35million traded during the four day Select session. The sale gross was up sixty per cent on 2009.
For the second year in a row, Widden Stud consigned the top priced mare, with Sun Classique selling for $2million last night, which follows Samantha Miss’ record-breaking price last year.
“It was an honour to sell Sun Classique for very loyal clients of the farm,” Widden’s Antony Thompson said.
“It was also a particularly satisfying sale for Widden Stud, with three of the top four priced mares (Sun Classique, Absolut Glam and Serious Speed) having been born on the farm.”
Patinack Farm have once again been major supporters of this sale, securing 23 mares over the past four days for a total spend of $7.2million.
“It has been a pleasing sale, once again underpinned by some good drafts of dispersals and reductions as well as high class fillies and mares off the track,” Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.
“The announcement of the Toorak Stud Dispersal was a great boost for the sale and I’d like to thank them and make special mention to Adrian Hancock for his involvement and wish him well.
“The buying bench was outstanding, with Western Australia and New Zealand regions particularly strong.
“This is the sale where you can offer premium mares with full confidence that the buyers will be here to compete.
“Patinack took the buying honours with some excellent acquisitions to their mare band which will ensure Onemorenomore gets every chance in his first season at Vinery stud.
“I’d like to thank Nathan Tinkler and the Patinack team for their ongoing support of our sales and the industry in general.
“This sale should give breeders confidence looking ahead towards the next breeding season, with the highly credentialed mares being highly sought commodities.”
The Select session saw 506 mares sold at a clearance rate of 80% and average price of $69,174. This was an up 18 per cent on the 2009 Select Session average.
