Twist Tops ready to fire at Moonee Valley

The Courier Mail - by Alan Gollogly - Tuesday 20 October 2015

TWIST TOPS will head to Moonee Valley on Saturday for the Two-year-old Inglis Banner (1000m).

The filly was brave when fourth in the Gimcrack (1000m) on debut as she drew a high gate and raced greenly.

Last week Twist Tops adapted well with the reverse way by working over 600m on the inner track in a hard held 38.50.

ZIGAMORE (Race 2 No. 10) will get punters off on the right note at Muswellbrook today judging by his 1000m in 1.07.50 (37.40).

The grey bumped into an above average galloper in Bogie last start but he’ll be breaking the Maiden barrier this afternoon.

Two runs back from a spell have IMPUESTO (R3 No. 7) at the top of her game and the 3kg claim for Alena Skerritt is an added bonus.

The daughter of Ad Valorem looked sharp when dashing up 600m in 36.75.

NOW YOU SEE (No 9) looks the quinella play after two encouraging trials.

CELTIC RUSH (R5 No. 1) has 63kg to carry but is down to a suitable Benchmark 55.

The son of Wanted was hard into the bridle doing 800m in 53.80 (38.00).

One run back from a spell has benefited SOUTHERN DELIGHT (R6 No. 5) and he appeals on an each-way basis.

He looked the part cruising over 800m in 52.50 (37.20),

ROYAL FLUSH (R8 No. 1) has hit the crossbar a few times during his career but gee he is well graded.

His last run was in much stronger company and the chestnut was in the zone last Thursday coming up 600m in 36.40.

Readers may have forgotten GOLD SEVENTY SEVEN but this scribe hasn’t and I visited him on a farm at Cessnock last week.

The chestnut, who damaged a tendon, has been off the scene for almost ten months after winning his only three starts.

He will be our New Year present.

Kris Lees trialled 23 horses at Gosford yesterday and I’ll file a report on his team and others in next weeks column.

My Cox Plate trifecta in order is HIGHLAND REEL, CRITERION and WINX.

HOOFNOTE: THE inner track, to be called Beaumont after the street parallel to the 900m-500m, is almost certain to be ready for racing on Saturday October 31.

With a circumference of 1800m and a straight of almost 400m the Beaumont will cater for at least 12 runners from the majority of starting points.

Work has already began on the course proper with heavy equipment digging up the home straight last week.
